BOOK REVIEWS

“Pastor Chris is a man I have known and respected for many years. I met him for the first time when he was a high school football player, and the Lord spoke clearly to me that he would be in ministry one day. Chris thought his future was football, but the Lord had even greater plans for his life. That’s why I love his new book, Shot in the Dark.

In it, he shares personal stories along with biblical illustrations that show how God has great plans for our lives. He is always faithful, even when we can’t see it. I know the Lord will minister to you through this book.”

Robert Morris, Gateway Church

“Chris’ story is an incredible testament to the love, faithfulness, and goodness of our God. Chris is an overcomer and has gone through situations and circumstances that most of us couldn’t even dream of, but he has seen God’s hand in the midst of some of the most difficult moments this life can offer.

His story will challenge, convict, and encourage you. Regardless of your current situation, Chris’ testimony will remind you to keep your eyes on Jesus and trust in Him.”

Tim Barton, President of WallBuilders

FOREWORD

When a young African American man showed up nearly 25 years ago to the church on Sojourn Drive, I asked the same question I do whenever I meet anyone: Lord, what do You have for this young man? And, how can I be Your heart extended so that he can be all You’ve called him to be?

Little did either of us know what God had in store. From having a casual acquaintance with Chris, to establishing a mentorship, to becoming one of my spiritual sons, we’ve grown in our relationship with the Lord and our appreciation for each other’s unique calling.

I’ve read the miracles in the Bible, I’ve heard people share testimonies of the amazing things they’ve seen God do, but I can truly say that night was one of the darkest of my life. Every fiber of my faith in a miracle working God was put to the test and He did not fail.

Jesus tells us in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” As you read this book, I hope you will see the goodness of God in miraculous ways.
